Google announced that Android devices will soon feature AirDrop compatibility, enhancing file sharing capabilities through the Android Quick Share menu. This integration aims to make sending files between Android and iOS devices more seamless.
Initially, the latest Samsung Galaxy S26 series, Google Pixel 10, Pixel 9, Pixel 9a, and specific Oppo and Vivo models will support AirDrop. More than a dozen additional phones, including various Samsung Galaxy S25 and S24 series devices, Galaxy Z Fold and Flip models, Oppo Find X8 series, OnePlus 15, Honor Magic V6, and Honor Magic8 Pro, are slated to receive this feature soon.
For Android phones not included in the initial rollout, Google is introducing a QR code generation feature within Quick Share. This will allow iOS users to scan the code to share files, offering a functional, albeit slightly more manual, alternative to traditional AirDrop. This QR code functionality is expected to begin rolling out immediately and become widely available by June.
