This new device draws inspiration from the Nintendo Switch Lite but is positioned as a more affordable alternative. It operates on Android 14 and is engineered for the emulation of classic video games.
At the heart of the RG 55G1 is the Snapdragon G1 Gen 2 chip, a first for Anbernic, enabling emulation of up to PlayStation 2 or Wii titles. The handheld features a 5.5-inch display with a 1,920 x 1,080 resolution, symmetrical Hall effect joysticks, and an impressive battery life of up to eight hours.
Customers can choose from black, indigo, and retro gray color options. The RG 55G1 will be available in configurations with either 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage, or 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. Pricing begins at $150 for the base model and can extend to $225 for the higher-spec version, which includes an additional 256GB microSD card. An introductory discount of $10 will be offered for the first three days of sale.
