Analogue has released firmware version 1.2.0 for its 3D console, adding official support for Nintendo's wireless N64 controller. This update provides gamers with a more authentic wireless experience for Nintendo 64 titles. The official Nintendo controller, launched in 2021, offers a faithful recreation of the original hardware but comes with a $54.99 price tag and necessitates a Nintendo Switch Online subscription. This is a notable increase compared to the $39.99 8BitDo 64 alternative.
The new firmware can be installed by copying it to the console's memory card or via a USB-C connection to a PC. Beyond controller support, the update addresses compatibility issues with certain 4K displays and switches, and resolves audio clipping problems. Additionally, the Analogue 3D's Library feature will now remember games added to a user's collection and track their total playtime for each title.
