AMD's Ryzen AI 400 series processors, prevalent in approximately one-third of productivity laptops, are underperforming in recent battery life evaluations. Tests focused on streaming video indicate that these chips are less efficient than competing processors. The Acer Swift Go 14 AI, equipped with a Ryzen AI 7 445, ranked last in raw battery life among tested devices. Efficiency scores, calculated by dividing battery life by battery size, also placed AMD's offerings behind rivals.

Competitors such as the Intel Core Ultra processors, particularly when paired with larger batteries, demonstrated superior endurance. The Qualcomm Snapdragon X Elite also emerged as a strong performer in efficiency tests. These findings suggest that consumers prioritizing battery longevity in their next productivity laptop might find better options from Intel or Qualcomm rather than AMD's current Ryzen AI lineup.
