Amazon has introduced a major user interface overhaul for its Fire TV streaming devices, focusing on content discovery and simplified navigation. This redesigned interface, initially available in the U.S., aims to make Fire TV a more effective hub for the expanding world of streaming content.
The updated design boasts a cleaner look with rounded corners, improved spacing, and allows users to pin up to 20 apps on the home screen, a significant increase from the previous limit of six. The top navigation bar has been streamlined into intuitive icons for Movies, TV, Live TV, Sports, and News, with a readily accessible search button.
Content suggestions from subscribed services are now prominently featured in "For You" rows within these categories. The Live TV tab centralizes access to live content across various streaming platforms and traditional broadcast options. Less frequently used features, settings, and the Appstore are now accessible via a hamburger menu.
Integral to the new interface is the enhanced integration of Alexa, Amazon's AI assistant. Users can now ask questions on a wide range of topics using natural language, refine queries, and engage in follow-up conversations. Alexa can also interact with on-screen content, providing deeper insights into movies and shows.
The update is rolling out to specific Fire TV models, including the Fire TV Stick 4K Plus and Fire TV Omni-LED Series in the U.S. Additional devices and international markets will receive the update in spring 2026, encompassing various Fire TV generations and partner brand televisions.
