Lost Item Trackers: AirTag Still Reigns Supreme?

Apple's AirTag remains the top performer in lost item recovery, outshining competitors in detection range and precision finding. In recent tests conducted in April 2026, the second-generation AirTag demonstrated its capabilities, even allowing retrieval of a tag from inside a motel room and through walls. Third-party trackers, such as Chipolo Card, KeySmart SmartCard, and LuLuLook AirCard Pro, functioned effectively on Apple's Find My network, providing reliable detection by passing devices.

For Android users, tags on Google's Find Hub network offered sufficient location updates for recovery, although they registered fewer pings compared to their iOS counterparts. This suggests either a larger presence of iPhones or better overall detection range for Apple devices. Despite this, all tested tags, including credit card-style trackers and key fobs, successfully reported their locations multiple times daily, proving invaluable for locating lost belongings.
