Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang suggested AI could fundamentally alter all jobs and potentially lead to shorter workweeks. Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates has posited that human labor might become largely unnecessary for many tasks in the future. Elon Musk has even predicted that humans might cease to need to work altogether within the next two decades.
Senator Bernie Sanders, in an October 2025 report, estimated that automation could displace nearly 100 million jobs in the United States alone, affecting sectors like fast food, customer service, and manual labor. Senator Mark Warner also expressed concern, particularly for younger workers, predicting a potential rise in unemployment among recent college graduates to as high as 25% in the next two to three years if AI significantly disrupts entry-level positions.
