20 Mar
Summary
- 81% of businesses now use AI, a significant rise from 47% in 2024.

- 71% of companies are implementing Cloud Centers of Excellence.

As artificial intelligence adoption accelerates, companies are expanding their cloud infrastructure, leading to unexpected consequences. Currently, 81% of businesses employ AI, a substantial leap from 47% in 2024. This growth, however, coincides with a 29% rise in cloud waste, marking the first such increase in five years.
This escalating waste is attributed to factors like unused cloud resources and excessive data storage. Many large enterprises, 76%, now spend over $5 million monthly on cloud services. The landscape is dominated by US hyperscalers AWS and Azure.
Improvements are anticipated as 71% of organizations are establishing Cloud Centers of Excellence. These centers aim to foster collaboration between FinOps, business units, and management teams, promoting unified governance and better cost management for AI and cloud services.
