A groundbreaking true-crime platform called Cinemalistics is in development, promising to deliver AI-generated cinematic and documentary vertical videos of unfolding crime sagas. Co-created by "CSI" mastermind Anthony Zuiker, the platform aims to provide real-time updates as new evidence surfaces.
Users will be able to watch AI-generated adaptations of crime stories within hours of their breaking. These adaptations will utilize public records, news reports, and social media to create short videos, powered by a proprietary engine leveraging Nvidia's AI tools. The platform plans a dual tier of ad-supported and premium access.
Cinemalistics is a collaborative effort involving Zuiker, former CAA executive David Freeman, tech entrepreneur Doug Scott, and actor Donovan Leitch. It is part of Nvidia's Innovation Lab for AI startups and is slated for a public debut at Mipcom in October. The venture has secured initial funding led by 5IR Funds.
Zuiker emphasized the need for journalistic consumption to evolve, stating that AI offers a more watchable alternative to reading. He highlighted the platform's commitment to respecting victims and their families, assuring that violent acts will not be gratuitously depicted. The AI videos will avoid showing faces until they are publicly revealed, focusing on storytelling through science and forensics.
