Ricursive Intelligence, a startup focused on designing and improving AI chips through artificial intelligence, has announced a significant funding round. The company successfully raised $300 million, achieving a valuation of $4 billion. This substantial investment was led by Lightspeed.
The innovative AI system developed by Ricursive is intended to autonomously design silicon substrate layers and accelerate the pace of AI chip advancements. The company was founded by former Google researchers Anna Goldie, the CEO, and Azalia Mirhoseini, the CTO.
Their expertise in novel reinforcement learning methods for chip layout design, exemplified by their work on AlphaChip, has reportedly been integrated into four generations of Google's TPU chips. Other notable investors in this round include DST Global and NVIDIA's venture capital arm, NVentures.
