A groundbreaking AI-powered 'bodyguard' badge is being developed by eNOugh, a British startup founded by UCL students, to bolster women's street safety. The device is designed to intelligently discern threatening situations, automatically alerting a monitoring operator to contact emergency services. This technology aims to offer immediate protection and vital evidence collection.
Through its integrated camera and microphone, the eNOugh badge streams live footage and the wearer's precise location to a central operator. Co-founder Ina Jovicic was inspired to create the solution after experiencing a personal attack, driving the development of AI that can distinguish escalating dangers from everyday arguments based on visual and auditory cues.
The innovative safety badge is slated for release in the second quarter of next year. It will retail at £99, complemented by a monthly subscription fee of £8 for continued service. The company has secured significant backing from Silicon Valley investor Kevin Hartz, signaling strong potential for the technology.
