21 Jan
Summary
- Premiere Pro's Object Mask tool uses AI for quick selection and tracking.
- New AI processing occurs locally, enhancing user privacy and data security.
- After Effects gains SVG import and parametric 3D mesh object capabilities.

Adobe has significantly enhanced its video editing software, Premiere Pro and After Effects, with new AI-driven capabilities. Premiere Pro now features an AI-powered Object Mask tool, enabling users to quickly select and track subjects in footage with unprecedented ease. This new tool automatically generates masks that can be manually refined, streamlining the editing process.
Crucially, Adobe has committed to user privacy by ensuring all AI processing for these new features occurs locally on the user's machine. This approach prevents personal footage from being used to train Adobe's AI models. Furthermore, Premiere Pro's existing mask tracking performance has been dramatically improved, now operating up to 20 times faster.
In parallel, After Effects users will benefit from expanded functionality, including support for importing SVG files and the introduction of new parametric 3D mesh objects. These updates are designed to boost graphics and 3D work within the software, alongside improved integration with Adobe Stock and Firefly Boards to simplify creative workflows.
