Acer has introduced the Vero 16, a new laptop prioritizing repairability and user upgrades. Its design includes removable port covers, a detachable external hinge, and a tool-free latch for easy access to internal components like the battery and motherboard. This approach aims to simplify service and upgrades, extending the device's usable life.
The laptop boasts a MIL-STD-810H certified chassis constructed primarily from low-carbon aluminum. Acer assures users that processors can be upgraded for at least two generations, and the battery and SSD are user-replaceable. The Vero 16 can be configured with up to an Intel Core Ultra X9 processor, 32GB of RAM, and 512GB of SSD storage, featuring a 16-inch 3K OLED display.
Additional features include a 5MP IR camera with a privacy shutter, an SD card reader, an HDMI 2.1 port, and two Thunderbolt 4 USB-C ports. It is also marketed as a Copilot+ PC, offering AI functionalities. The Vero 16 is slated for release in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) early next year, with no confirmed price or North American release date yet.
Acer also updated its Swift series, introducing the Swift Air 16 and Swift Blade 14. The Swift Air 16, powered by up to an Intel Core 7 processor, will be available by early 2027. The Swift Blade 14, a very light and thin model with up to an Intel Core 7 processor, is set for a December release, also initially in EMEA.
