Ableton is releasing the Live 12.4 beta, featuring Link Audio for real-time audio collaboration on local networks. This new capability allows users to stream audio directly between devices, simplifying project sharing and co-creation. While limited to audio, it bypasses the need to export and send files back and forth.
The update also enhances existing features like stem separation with improved workflow options, such as separating selected audio or merging stems. Furthermore, Ableton's Note iOS app and Move groovebox are receiving significant upgrades, including two new effects: Erosion and Auto Shift, an auto-tune-like tool.
Both Note and Move now also support audio tracks, addressing a previous limitation for looping and sketching. Live 12.4 is a free upgrade for Live 12 users, with the public beta available now for those with a license.
