Smart Glasses Promise 39 Days Battery Life!
13 Aug
Summary
- New smart glasses claim an astonishing 39 days of battery life.
- These glasses lack screens and cameras to conserve power.
- The 200mAh battery claims are met with skepticism due to the duration.
In the competitive consumer electronics market, extended battery life is a significant differentiator, particularly for compact devices like smart glasses. Rogbid has entered this space with its VisionW smart glasses, priced at $70, boasting an extraordinary battery life claim of 39 days.
These smart glasses feature audio capabilities and access to AI assistants like ChatGPT and Grok. They are designed with interchangeable frames for different uses, including exercise, daily life, and office environments. Notably, the VisionW lacks power-draining components such as a screen and a camera, which are common in other smart glass models.
The company lists the battery capacity at 200mAh, which is only slightly smaller than that of the Ray-Ban Meta Gen 2 AI glasses, which typically offer around eight hours of general use. This stark contrast makes Rogbid's 39-day claim particularly noteworthy and subject to scrutiny.
Skepticism surrounds the 39-day battery life assertion. It is unclear if this figure refers to standby time or light usage, as active use, such as listening to Bluetooth audio, would likely reduce this duration significantly. Given the affordable price, the unfamiliarity of the brand, and the seemingly hyperbolic battery claim, potential buyers may find the product disappointing.
