1Password, owned by Canadian company AgileBits Inc., has announced upcoming price adjustments for its subscription services. Effective for renewals on or after March 27, 2026, individual plans will see an approximate 33% increase, rising from $35.88 to $47.88 annually. The family plan's yearly fee will also increase by 20%, from $59.88 to $71.88.
AgileBits attributes the price hike to the introduction of new features and enhanced capabilities over the years, stating that pricing has remained largely unchanged for a significant period. These new features include automatic login saving and filling, improved Watchtower alerts, faster device setup, AI-powered item naming, and expanded recovery options.
The company asserts that the adjusted pricing is necessary to continue investing in innovation, infrastructure, privacy, and security. Despite some user dissatisfaction and consideration of alternatives, 1Password emphasizes its commitment to providing effortless and secure password management. The company has also indicated discussions regarding a potential IPO.
