NFL Reverses Decision: Zxavian Harris Eligible to Play
13 Oct
Summary
- Zxavian Harris is now eligible to sign with any NFL team.
- He was previously deemed ineligible due to a failed attempt to return to college.
- The NFL confirmed Harris did not practice with LSU, clearing him.

Zxavian Harris, a former Ole Miss player, has been declared eligible to be signed by any NFL team. The NFL issued a memo confirming his free agent status after Harris disputed previous reports. He was initially deemed ineligible for the 2026 NFL season due to an attempt to return to college football at LSU after training camp.
The league's Player Personnel Memorandum 122-26 had stated Harris was not eligible because he allegedly played college football after NFL training camps opened. Harris contended he did not.
The NFL conducted an investigation and confirmed Harris did not participate in any organized practice or game for the college team. Based on this, the Management Council has now confirmed Harris is a free agent and eligible to sign an NFL Player or Practice Squad Contract.
This ruling does not affect the status of Dae'Quon Wright, who also attempted to return to LSU with Harris. Harris's college record in the FIS system has been updated from Louisiana State back to Mississippi.
