On Sunday, September 28th, 2025, world number three Alexander Zverev of Germany defeated Corentin Moutet of France in a hard-fought three-set match at the China Open. Zverev, who is looking forward to facing his "good friend" Daniil Medvedev in the quarterfinals, kept his cool to edge out the 26-year-old Moutet by a score of 7-5, 3-6, 6-3.
The match was not without its drama, as Moutet, the world number 37, let his frustration get the better of him, smashing his racket against his own leg during the encounter. However, Zverev remained composed and ultimately prevailed, setting up a highly anticipated 21st career meeting with his Russian rival Medvedev.
"(Moutet is) a good player, so difficult match. He's beaten a lot of great opponents this year," Zverev later told AFP. "I'm gonna do everything I can," the 28-year-old said of his upcoming clash with Medvedev. "If it's enough in the end, then great, and if it's not, then it's also OK. I'm looking forward to a tough battle."
