According to reports, New Orleans Pelicans forward Zion Williamson is not overly concerned about a recent foot injury that caused him to miss a game on Monday. Williamson explained that the injury occurred when he stepped on an opponent's foot after a putback dunk in a game against the San Antonio Spurs on October 24th.
Williamson stated that the pain did not manifest until a day or two later, at which point he consulted with the team and decided it was best to sit out the Pelicans' game against the Boston Celtics. However, Williamson emphasized that the injury is "nothing major" and he is currently considered "day to day."
The 25-year-old All-Star has a history of foot, ankle, and toe injuries that have kept him out of significant playing time since entering the NBA. In fact, he missed the entire 2021-22 season due to lingering foot issues after undergoing offseason surgery. Despite this, Williamson remains optimistic about a quick recovery, stating there is "nothing that is going to keep me out for a long time."
Williamson was practicing in a limited capacity on Tuesday, running sprints up and down the court. He is currently listed as questionable for the Pelicans' upcoming matchup against the Denver Nuggets on Wednesday. The team will be hoping their star player can return to the court soon as they search for their first win of the season.
