Pelicans Stand Firm: Zion Williamson Not for Trade

The New Orleans Pelicans are not entertaining any trade offers for their All-Star forward, Zion Williamson, as confirmed by executive vice president of basketball operations Joe Dumars on Tuesday.
Dumars addressed speculation, stating, "We have no intentions of doing that. We're going into the offseason looking forward to Zion coming back next year and playing great again next year."
Williamson, 25, played in 62 games this past season, averaging 21.0 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 3.2 assists. These 62 games represent the second-most he has played since being drafted first overall in 2019.
Williamson has two seasons remaining on a five-year, $197.2 million contract extension signed in July 2022. His cap hit for the 2026-27 season is projected at $42.2 million.
