Lomax Legal Battle: Storm Faces Huge Bill?
7 Feb
Summary
- Parramatta Eels are suing Zac Lomax to block his move to Melbourne Storm.
- The NRL star's transfer to Storm is reportedly worth $1 million.
- The court case could cost Storm a significant legal bill if they lose.

A legal battle is underway concerning NRL player Zac Lomax, potentially leaving the Melbourne Storm with a significant legal expense instead of securing the winger for the upcoming season. Parramatta Eels have filed legal proceedings to prevent Lomax from joining their rivals.
Initially, the Eels released Lomax amid speculation of a move to the R360 rugby union competition. However, with R360 postponing its launch until 2028 in November 2025, Lomax found himself in limbo before seeking a transfer to the Melbourne Storm for the 2026 season, a move reportedly valued at $1 million.
The NSW Supreme Court heard on Friday, February 7, 2026, that Melbourne could be compelled to cover Lomax's legal costs if the Eels are successful. Lomax's legal team is pushing for a swift hearing, while the Eels' barrister argues that Lomax needs to be cross-examined and a two-day hearing scheduled for February 12, 2026, is insufficient.
