Youngest MCA President Ajinkya Naik Secures Second Term Despite Cooling-Off Period
10 Nov
Summary
- Ajinkya Naik re-elected as Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) president
- Naik became MCA president in 2024 at age 37, youngest ever
- Naik's re-election comes despite having completed 6 years on MCA Apex Council

In a surprising move, Ajinkya Naik has been re-elected as the president of the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) in an unopposed election held on November 8, 2025. Naik, who became the youngest MCA president in 2024 at the age of 37, was among the eight candidates who filed their nomination papers for the top post ahead of the elections.
Interestingly, Naik's re-election comes despite the fact that he had already completed six consecutive years on the MCA Apex Council, which would normally make him subject to a mandatory cooling-off period under the Supreme Court-directed Lodha Committee reforms applicable to all state cricket associations. However, Naik appears to have found a way to circumvent these rules and secure a second term as the MCA president.
Naik's first term as MCA president was marked by his decisive victory over former vice-president Sanjay Naik in 2024, where he won by a whopping margin of 107 votes. His re-election to the position in 2025 suggests that he has maintained strong support within the cricket association and continues to be a dominant figure in Mumbai's cricketing circles.
