Rajasthan Royals stand on the brink of an IPL playoff berth, with the rising star Yash Punja playing a pivotal role. The 20-year-old leg-spinner, born in Abu Dhabi, has been a game-changer for the team this season, securing six wickets across five matches with an economical 8.35 economy rate.

Punjya's cricketing path began as a fast bowler, but he transitioned to leg-spin upon receiving counsel about his greater potential in this discipline. His early career faced skepticism, yet he rapidly acquired the necessary skills, demonstrating a remarkable aptitude for the craft.

A significant turning point arrived when he was noticed by former Karnataka head coach Karthik Jeshwanth, who was impressed by his bounce and the endorsement from ex-England captain Alastair Cook.

Punjya honed his skills at the SIX Cricket Academy in Bengaluru, focusing on consistent delivery length. Coach Zubin Bharucha noted his exceptional control, likening him to Anil Kumble for his precise bowling.
