Luis Gil, a former American League Rookie of the Year, is working to regain his previous form. Despite his fastball averaging under 95 mph in a recent outing, Gil believes he can return to his dominant 2024 performance level, following a season impacted by a right lat strain.

The Yankees' Opening Day roster projection features Caballero potentially taking over at shortstop temporarily due to Anthony Volpe's shoulder surgery. Caballero also opted against playing in the Dominican Winter League to focus on specific game improvements and prepare his body and mind for a full big-league season.
