Yankees General Manager Brian Cashman has once again participated in the Covenant House's annual Sleep Out, marking his 14th year with the initiative. He joined more than 350 business leaders and community advocates in sleeping outdoors at the Jacob Javits Center, a somber effort to raise crucial funds and awareness for young people facing homelessness. Cashman emphasized the increasing need for Covenant House's support in a challenging world.
Since its start in 2011 with just 48 participants, the Sleep Out has grown into a worldwide movement held in 19 cities. This initiative has successfully drawn over 65,000 participants and generated more than $170 million for Covenant House's essential services. Youth ambassadors shared their personal stories, highlighting the impact of unstable housing and the organization's supportive role.
Cashman, also a board member for Covenant House International, stresses the importance of consistent, year-round support for vulnerable youth. He highlighted the talent and potential of the young people served by the organization, noting that they simply need opportunities, guidance, and love. The event also saw participation from prominent figures like CBS Evening News co-anchor John Dickerson.
