Xander Schauffele Ends Injury Woes with Baycurrent Classic Win
12 Oct
Summary
- Xander Schauffele wins first title since 2024 Open Championship
- Shoots final-round 64 to finish one shot ahead of Max Greyserman
- Overcomes rib injury that disrupted his momentum earlier this year

In a triumphant return to form, American golfer Xander Schauffele has won the Baycurrent Classic in Japan, his first title since last year's Open Championship victory. Schauffele, who is currently 31 years old, carded a final-round 64 featuring eight birdies to finish one shot clear of fellow American Max Greyserman on 19-under par at the Yokohama Country Club.
The win marks a significant milestone for Schauffele, who has been battling a rib injury that disrupted the momentum he had built up following his maiden major triumph at the 2024 PGA Championship, which came just two months after his Open Championship victory. "It feels good, it's nice to know I've still got it," said Schauffele. "It was a rough year but my team dragged me through it. Hopefully I'm catching my stride."
Schauffele's Ryder Cup teammate Collin Morikawa finished tied for 14th on 10-under par, while American Matt McCarty had the round of the day, carding a 60 with 12 birdies, including eight in a row on the back nine. However, a bogey on the 18th hole denied McCarty a coveted sub-60 round.
