West Virginia pitcher Mac Stiffler announced his departure from the program on Friday night, entering the NCAA transfer portal. Stiffler, a right-handed pitcher from Hagerstown, Maryland, indicated he will continue his collegiate career elsewhere as an incoming junior.
During his freshman year in 2025, Stiffler showed signs of potential, striking out 20 batters in 20 innings pitched. However, command issues, evidenced by a high walk rate, persisted into the current season. Despite these challenges, he possesses a power arm, consistently reaching 94-95 mph with his fastball and featuring a sharp slider and curveball.
Stiffler will have two years of eligibility remaining as he seeks a new collegiate home. His ability to touch high velocity with promising off-speed pitches suggests potential for high-leverage bullpen situations if his control sharpens.
