At the 37th annual Thomas Automotive Tournament in Bedford, thirteen local wrestlers have advanced to the semifinal rounds. The tournament, hosted at Bedford High School, has drawn 31 competing teams. Clearfield High School currently leads the team standings with 109 points, with Huntingdon close behind at 108.5 points. Other top contenders include Burrell (102 points), Chestnut Ridge (101.5 points), and Greenville (96.5 points).
Several notable performances have secured semifinal berths. At 107 pounds, Chestnut Ridge's Kooper Deputy and Conemaugh Township's Carter Christ will compete. Chestnut Ridge continues to impress with multiple athletes advancing, including Garrett Weyandt and Carter Ickes at 114 pounds, and three-time champion Dominic Deputy at 127 pounds. Central Cambria's Hadyn Strittmatter (133 pounds), Chestnut Ridge's Trenden Willey (139 pounds), and Meyersdale's Brennan Schardt (145 pounds) also earned spots in the semifinals. Berlin Brothersvalley's Dawson Shaffer (152 pounds) and Carter Durst (172 pounds), along with Chestnut Ridge's Jayden Imler (189 pounds) and Central Cambria's Jeremy Hajzus, will also compete in the next round. Wrestlers from Bedford, Somerset, North Star, and Berlin Brothersvalley also participated, with some reaching quarterfinal matches.
