Woods, Mickelson Skip U.S. Senior Open Field

Fifty-year-old Tiger Woods is not participating in the U.S. Senior Open, scheduled for July 2-5 at Scioto Country Club. Woods registered in March but is taking a break from golf after counseling following a spring DUI arrest. Notably, Phil Mickelson, 56, will also not compete in the Upper Arlington event, nor will Bernhard Langer or John Daly. However, the field includes many recognizable senior golfers, such as five-time PGA Tour major champion Ernie Els and defending U.S. Senior Open champion Padraig Harrington. Vijay Singh, Retief Goosen, Angel Cabrera, and Lee Janzen are also among the participants. Scioto Country Club, marking its 110th anniversary, has a distinguished history of hosting major golf tournaments. The 155-player field will be cut to the top 60 and ties after 36 holes. The winner will receive $800,000 from a $4 million purse.
