The 2026 WNBA All-Star Weekend in Chicago will introduce a revamped Shooting Stars competition, a format previously utilized by the NBA. This new event replaces the traditional Skills Challenge, aiming to bring a fresh dynamic to the festivities.
Four teams, each representing specific markets like Minnesota, Seattle, Washington, and the Dallas-Detroit area, will compete. These teams will be uniquely composed, bringing together WNBA legends, active players, and promising Nike EYBL standouts. Participants will have 70 seconds to score from seven different spots on the court, with varying point values assigned to each location.
The competition is structured to test shooting accuracy and speed. Teams begin at spot one for a two-point layup, with subsequent spots increasing in difficulty and value. The seventh spot, a long-range three-pointer, is worth four points, allowing ample opportunity for scoring as time expires.
After the initial round, the two highest-scoring teams will advance to a winner-take-all final round. This electrifying event is scheduled as part of the All-Star Skills Night, alongside the popular 3-point contest.
