The WNBA's newly ratified collective bargaining agreement introduces significant enhancements to player support and facilities, starting as early as April 1, with training camps able to commence. Developmental players will now receive a weekly stipend of $750, plus a per-game payment of $6,136 for the 2026 season, without counting against team salary caps.
Furthermore, teams are required to bolster their support staff, including adding at least two lead team physicians, two athletic trainers, a strength and conditioning coach, a physical therapist, and a massage therapist. By the 2028 season, exclusive locker rooms, private courts, and dedicated medical and dining areas will be mandatory for each team.
The agreement also expands roster spots, allowing seven guaranteed contracts, up from six. The league will allocate $8,423,000 from its revenue-sharing system towards marketing deals by the end of the 2030 season, reflecting a commitment to elevate the professional standard across the league.
