- Hilton Jr. is a promising sophomore receiver for the team.
Rising sophomore wide receiver Eugene Hilton Jr. has announced his return to the Wisconsin Badgers football program. This comes after he initially entered the transfer portal approximately two and a half weeks ago. His decision to remain with the team offers a significant boost to the Badgers' receiving unit for the upcoming season.
Hilton Jr., son of NFL Pro Bowl receiver T.Y. Hilton, brings valuable experience to the team. As a freshman, he caught nine passes for 91 yards and showed advanced traits for his position. Despite limited targets, his presence on the field, particularly his route running and blocking ability, was noted by coaches.
Head coach Luke Fickell has expressed openness to players reconsidering their transfer decisions. This approach has allowed for such returns previously, fostering a culture where players are not permanently shut out after entering the portal. Hilton Jr.'s choice exemplifies this philosophy.
