21 Mar
Summary
- Wimbledon introduces video review for umpire judgment calls.
- Players can challenge specific scenarios like double bounces.
- The new technology will be available on six show courts.

Wimbledon will introduce video review technology for the 2026 tournament, empowering players to challenge specific judgment calls made by the chair umpire. This innovation aims to enhance fairness by allowing reviews for scenarios like a ball bouncing twice or touching a player before a shot. Players will have the ability to request these reviews immediately after a point-ending call or hindrance.
The new video review system will be accessible on six show courts, including the iconic Centre Court and Court One, throughout the entire championships. Additional show courts will feature the technology until the conclusion of their singles matches.
In parallel, Wimbledon is also enhancing its electronic line calling (ELC) system by introducing visual indicators on scoreboards for all 'out' and 'fault' calls. This year's Wimbledon tournament is scheduled to commence on June 29.
