On October 13, 2025, the International Cricket Council (ICC) announced that West Indies fast bowler Jayden Seales had been fined 25% of his match fee and handed a demerit point for breaching the ICC's Code of Conduct during the opening day of the second Test against India.
The incident occurred on October 11, 2025, in the 29th over of India's first innings. Seales fielded the ball on his follow-through and threw it at batter Yashaswi Jaiswal, hitting him on the pads. The ICC found that Seales had violated the code of conduct for "throwing a ball (or any other item of cricket equipment) at or near a player in an inappropriate and/or dangerous manner."
As a result, one demerit point has been added to Seales' disciplinary record, taking his total to two in a 24-month period. The previous demerit point was received in a Test match against Bangladesh in December 2024.
Seales contested the sanction, but the match referee, Andy Pycroft, concluded that the throw was unnecessary and inappropriate, despite Seales' claim that he was attempting a run-out. The on-field umpires, third umpire, and fourth umpire had all leveled the charge against Seales.
