Captain Ben Davies has returned to the Wales squad for friendly matches against Ghana and Romania after recovering from a serious ankle injury that required surgery in January. Tottenham defender Davies, 33, had not played since sustaining the injury.
Burnley's Connor Roberts is also set to make his first competitive appearance in approximately a year, having been out since June 2025 with groin and Achilles injuries. The 30-year-old right-back has recently featured for Burnley's Under-21s and was an unused substitute for the first team on Sunday.
Centre-back Chris Mepham also returns from injury. However, midfielders Jordan James and Rubin Colwill, along with forwards Liam Cullen and Mark Harris, are unavailable due to minor injuries. Wales will host Ghana at Cardiff City Stadium on Tuesday, June 2nd, before traveling to Bucharest to face Romania the following Saturday.
Romania, also missing World Cup qualification, will play Wales for the first time since 1993. Their manager, Gheorghe Hagi, will manage his first home match since his second appointment in April. Ghana, featuring Manchester City's Antoine Semenyo, will also face Wales for the first time. Carlos Queiroz was appointed as Ghana's head coach last month.
These matches are preparation for Wales' return to the top flight of the Nations League in September, where they are drawn with Portugal, Norway, and Denmark.
