Ariyalur district's visually impaired para-athlete, K. Sivagami, has been appointed as a para-athletics visiting coach. The appointment order was presented by Tamil Nadu Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin in Tiruchi on Friday, February 7, 2026.
Ms. Sivagami, originally from Jayankondam, has overcome considerable adversity. Born visually impaired along with her five sisters, she pursued sports with great determination. She has achieved success in shot put and discus throw, earning medals at national and international para-athletics events.
Her achievements include representing India in Asian and international competitions. Recently, Ms. Sivagami met with the Deputy Chief Minister in Chennai, sharing her family's circumstances and seeking employment assistance. Following the Chief Minister's directive, steps were initiated for her employment through the Sports Development Authority of Tamil Nadu.
