Visa has unveiled its 'Tap In' campaign ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, leveraging the star power of actor Jason Sudeikis alongside footballing talents such as Lamine Yamal and Erling Haaland. The campaign creatively uses the football term 'tap-in' to highlight how tapping a Visa card can instantly enhance user experiences. This initiative is part of Visa's long-standing partnership with FIFA, designating them as the official payment technology partner for the upcoming global event.
Frank Cooper, Visa's chief marketing officer, emphasized the World Cup's status as the largest sporting event in history, noting its significant impact on the global economy. Cooper highlighted the creation of over 800,000 jobs and the expected influx of six million tourists, spanning sectors like tourism, hospitality, and entertainment. Visa aims to enable access and participation in this 'pop-up economy' for businesses, tourists, and creators alike.
The campaign's narrative features Sudeikis using his Visa card to transform his surroundings, from a movie trailer to a taxi driven by Haaland, ultimately transporting him to North America for the tournament. Complementing the campaign, Visa is offering promotional rewards programs in the U.S., Canada, and Mexico, allowing fans to accumulate rewards with purchases during the 104 World Cup matches. Prizes include game tickets and memorabilia.
Furthermore, Visa is launching the 'Tap In To Impact' initiative, committing $600,000 to three non-profit organizations: SCORE in the U.S., Pro Mujer in Mexico, and Futurpreneur in Canada. Each organization is dedicated to supporting small businesses within their respective host nations. The campaign's broader reach includes U.S. captain Christian Pulisic and Mexican legend Jorge Campos, aiming to sustain customer engagement beyond the tournament's conclusion.
