Vikings QB McCarthy Battles Injured Hand Ahead of Bears Clash

As of November 13th, 2025, the Minnesota Vikings are preparing for their upcoming game against the Chicago Bears, but they have some injury concerns to address. Quarterback J.J. McCarthy, who has missed five games earlier this season due to an ankle injury, was limited in practice on Wednesday after suffering a right hand injury in a recent game.

According to Vikings head coach Kevin O'Connell, McCarthy "hit it on a helmet at one point, late in the game." However, the coach remains optimistic that the injury will not significantly impact McCarthy's preparation for Sunday's matchup, stating, "Everything's checked out. . . . Don't see that affecting his week of preparation very much at all."

In addition to McCarthy's injury, the Vikings were also without outside linebacker Jonathan Greenard, who missed Wednesday's practice due to a shoulder issue. Several other key players, including offensive guard Will Fries, running back Aaron Jones Sr., center Ryan Kelly, safety Josh Metellus, tight end Josh Oliver, offensive tackle Justin Skule, safety Harrison Smith, and outside linebacker Andrew Van Ginkel, were limited in practice due to various injuries.

Despite these concerns, the Vikings are expected to have McCarthy available to start against the Bears, as they look to build on their recent success and maintain their position in the NFC North standings.
