Summary
- Alex Greenwood signs contract extension with Manchester City
- New deal keeps her at the club until 2027
- Greenwood has made 152 appearances for City since 2020

As of November 12th, 2025, Manchester City's experienced defender Alex Greenwood has signed a contract extension to remain with the club until 2027. The 32-year-old, who has been the City captain since joining from Lyon in September 2020, had previously been set to see her previous deal expire in the summer of 2026.
Greenwood has been a stalwart for City over the past few years, making 152 appearances for the Women's Super League side and winning the FA Cup and League Cup during her time at the club. She was also a crucial player in England's 2025 European Championship-winning campaign, starting all six matches as the Lionesses lifted the trophy.
Despite sustaining an injury at the end of October that is expected to keep her out for "a number of weeks", Greenwood remains excited about the future at Manchester City. The defender is enthused by the club's new manager, Andree Jeglertz, who took over in July, and the positive start to the season, with City currently sitting top of the WSL table after eight matches.
"I'm really excited for what's to come," Greenwood said in a press release. "I would love nothing more than to lift more silverware at this football club."
