Her journey includes overcoming adversity, having been waived by the Dallas Wings prior to the 2024 season. After joining the Valkyries, Burton quickly became a key player, reportedly earning a nearly max-level salary of $925,000.
Burton recently demonstrated exceptional clutch performance during the team's semifinal series. She made critical plays, including a late-game three-pointer and clutch free throws in Game 2, and contributed six points in the final four minutes of Game 3 to help force overtime, securing a Finals berth for the Valkyries.
Her sister, Kayla Burton, a broadcaster for NBC Sports Boston, highlights Veronica's journey and credits her prior stint with the Connecticut Sun as a crucial stepping stone. The Valkyries' success, reaching the Finals in their second year, is largely attributed to foundational players like Burton.
