The U.S. Open mixed doubles championship has expanded its field, with an additional 13 teams, including one featuring Venus Williams and several comprised of married couples, now registered. This brings the total number of teams to 29, competing for 16 spots in the main draw scheduled for August 25 and 26. The tournament, revamped last year with a $1 million prize to boost participation from top singles players, has attracted major names.
Venus Williams is teaming up with Alexander Bublik. Among the other new entries are Elina Svitolina and her husband Gael Monfils, alongside newlyweds Katie Boulter and Alex De Minaur. Top-ranked Aryna Sabalenka and Novak Djokovic were among the initial 16 teams announced. Entries remain open until August 17, with the six duos possessing the best combined singles rankings automatically qualifying.
Eight wild cards will be awarded by the USTA, and two additional teams will secure spots through a qualifying tournament on August 24. Previous entries include Iga Swiatek and Casper Ruud, and Naomi Osaka and Kei Nishikori. The defending champions, Sara Errani and Andrea Vavassori, are expected to require a wild card again due to their singles rankings.
