Jedd Fisch's University of Washington football recruiting efforts continue to focus on the East Coast for quarterback talent. The latest prospect is 5-star 2028 quarterback Christopher Vargas from Danvers, Massachusetts. Vargas, a 6-foot-4, 195-pound player from St. John's Preparatory School, received an offer from UW on May 28. He holds nearly two dozen offers following his sophomore season.
Vargas is coached by Brian St. Pierre, a former Boston College quarterback who also had a nearly decade-long NFL career. St. Pierre praised Vargas's command of the offense and his ability to make every throw. Despite missing part of his sophomore season due to a knee injury, Vargas returned for the playoffs, completing 138 of 207 passes for 2,038 yards and 24 touchdowns with only 3 interceptions. His career numbers as a two-year starter are 3,349 passing yards and 41 touchdowns.
While recruiting websites suggest Vargas may lean towards Ohio State, where he has visited multiple times, the Huskies are actively recruiting him. This effort aligns with UW's strategy of securing top quarterback talent from the East Coast, following previous recruits like Derek Zammit.
