USC DT Boucard: Big Ten Breakout Star?

USC Trojans defensive tackle Floyd Boucard is poised for a breakout season as a sophomore in 2026. The 6-3, 305-pound athlete was a three-star recruit from Miami, Florida. He participated in 10 games during his freshman year, accumulating nine tackles, one tackle for loss, and one sack.

His potential impact was recognized by CBS Sports, which named Boucard among 15 potential breakout players in the Big Ten for the upcoming season. His ability to occupy blockers and create opportunities for teammates is highlighted as a key factor in strengthening USC's defensive front.

The Trojans' defense will be under the guidance of new defensive coordinator Gary Patterson. Patterson, formerly the head coach at TCU, brings a wealth of experience to USC's sidelines after stints with Texas and Baylor. He replaces D'Anton Lynn, who is now the defensive coordinator at Penn State.
