Ex-Mumbai star Ranjane faces India in T20 World Cup

Shubham Ranjane, a former Mumbai cricketer, is reliving cherished memories as he returns to his home city with the USA team for the T20 World Cup. Ranjane expressed excitement about playing at the Wankhede Stadium and reuniting with his former Mumbai teammate and "best buddy," Suryakumar Yadav. The 31-year-old all-rounder, who moved to the USA in 2022, has a rich cricketing lineage, with his grandfather and father also having played cricket for India and Maharashtra respectively.

Ranjane fondly recalls his time playing cricket in Mumbai, stating that returning always evokes a sense of home and nostalgia. He shared a particularly memorable moment at the Wankhede Stadium from a 2018 Mushtaq Ali Trophy match where he hit a winning shot off the last ball. He also has fond memories of his performances in the Mumbai Premier League at the same venue.

As he prepares to face India, Ranjane's family, including his parents and in-laws, will be in the stands. He anticipates a unique experience playing for the USA on his former home ground. Ranjane also looks forward to competing against his Under-19 batchmate, Jasprit Bumrah, whom he played against and alongside in various junior tournaments and at the National Cricket Academy.
