On November 11, 2025, Uttar Pradesh (UP) registered their first victory of the current Ranji Trophy season in emphatic fashion, defeating Nagaland by an innings and 265 runs at the Green Park stadium. UP's clinical all-round display saw their batsmen and bowlers dominate throughout the match.
The foundation of UP's victory was laid by the trio of Madhav Kaushik (185), Aryan Juyal (140), and Shivam Mavi (101), whose centuries helped the team declare their first innings at 535/6 in just one and a half days. Nagaland never looked comfortable against UP's disciplined bowling attack, with Mavi, Aqib Khan, Shivam Sharma, and Karan Sharma sharing the spoils.
Trailing by 418 runs in the first innings, Nagaland struggled in their second innings as well, eventually folding for 153. Shivam Sharma and Karan Sharma were the pick of the bowlers, with the former bagging his third five-wicket haul of the season. Chetan Bisht's gritty 53 was the lone bright spot for Nagaland.
This comprehensive victory has boosted UP's confidence, and they now have 14 points from four matches in the Ranji Trophy. The team's coach, Arvind Kapoor, praised the players for their outstanding performance, which saw them dominate the match from start to finish.
