Unproven O-Line Poses Challenge for Raiders' Offensive Resurgence
21 Aug
Summary
- Raiders traded for QB Geno Smith and drafted RB Ashton Jeanty
- Offensive line is largely unproven, with uncertainty over several positions
- Veteran LT Kolton Miller is the anchor, but rest of line lacks experience

As the 2025 NFL season approaches, the Las Vegas Raiders are hoping that their major offseason acquisitions of quarterback Geno Smith and running back Ashton Jeanty will provide a much-needed jolt to their struggling offense. However, the success of these new additions may hinge on the performance of the team's largely unproven offensive line.
Veteran left tackle Kolton Miller is the anchor of the Raiders' offensive front, having been ranked as the 14th-best tackle in the league last season. The team has invested heavily in Miller, signing him to a three-year, $66 million extension just last month. The left side of the line also features promising young guard Dylan Parham, who was ranked 24th among guards in 2024.
But the rest of the offensive line remains a major question mark. Second-year players Jackson Powers-Johnson and DJ Glaze are expected to start at center and right guard, respectively, though they are still developing. Meanwhile, the right tackle position is held by Glaze, who has had to contend with the pass-rushing prowess of star defensive end Maxx Crosby in practice.
With depth also a concern across the offensive line, the Raiders' coaching staff acknowledges that this unit will be a work in progress as the season begins. However, they remain cautiously optimistic that the group will come together and provide the necessary protection and run-blocking to unlock the full potential of Smith and Jeanty.
