The inaugural World Athletics Ultimate Championship, taking place in Budapest from September 11 to 13, 2026, will feature a groundbreaking award system. Instead of traditional medals, winners will receive a distinctive trophy designed to incorporate their personalized participation bracelet. This unique award concept, inspired by sprinter Noah Lyles, aims to celebrate the 'best of the best' in each discipline.
Every athlete competing will receive a specially engraved bracelet, serving as both a memento and a key component of the champion's trophy. Handcrafted by Hungarian artisans, the trophies reflect the event's star-shaped logo, with a groove allowing the winner's bracelet to be seamlessly integrated. This innovative approach signifies a departure from conventional athletic awards, focusing on individual achievement.
Champions will collect their trophies immediately after their event from a plinth on-site, followed by a multimedia ceremony and a lap of honor. The championship will gather elite athletes, including world and Olympic champions, offering a record prize purse of $10 million.
