Sullivan scored Philadelphia's second goal in the 50th minute, marking his third goal of the season and third in 34 career appearances. He joins an elite group of players aged 18 or younger with consecutive scoring contributions. The Union initially took the lead in the 21st minute with Milan Iloski's 11th career-high goal, assisted by Indiana Vassilev and Danley Jean Jacques.
Further extending their lead, 18-year-old rookie Neil Pierre netted his fourth goal in seven appearances in the 65th minute. The Red Bulls, despite the deficit, managed to avoid a shutout when Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting scored his third goal of the season in the 74th minute.
