Boston College extended their lead early in the third period as Jake Sondreal's shot bounced past UMass netminder Jackson Irving. Sondreal then added a second goal midway through the final frame, and Ryan Conmy capped the scoring with an empty-net tally.
The Minutemen outshot the Eagles 35-32 on the night but were unable to capitalize on their chances, going 0-for-3 on the power play. UMass head coach Greg Carvel expressed satisfaction with his team's effort, noting that it was a tight-checking game where the difference came down to a few bounces and deflections.
