Andrii Mandzii secured Ukraine's highest-ever Olympic finish in men's singles luge on Monday, claiming 12th place at the 2026 Winter Games. His combined time of 3:34.774 also established a new national record for the event.
This historic achievement marks the first time a Ukrainian athlete has placed within the top 20 in men's singles luge at the Olympics. Teammate Anton Dukach also contributed to this milestone, finishing 16th overall with a time of 3:35.204, ensuring two Ukrainians were in the top 20.
Both Mandzii and Dukach were competitive throughout the four runs. After the initial two runs, Dukach was 12th and Mandzii 14th. Mandzii advanced to 13th after the third run, while Dukach moved to 17th, with both qualifying for the super final.
